  • Chelsea Hotel

    Chelsea Hotel

This painting is also part of the TURMOIL series painted in response from a concerned emotional state in early 2017 and was displayed in my solo show "PALETTE" at INTRO LA. It depicts a once vibrant art colony now succumbed to destruction and eventually over-priced condos in Chelsea. I have always felt a deep connection to the abstract expressionists who were responding to the aftermath of WWII in NYC beginning in the mid 1940's. Much of my own style has developed from a knowledge of this body of work. "Chelsea Hotel" is constructed from pigments ground with acrylic medium on a hand-stretched canvas. It is a favorite and does not pose well for photos.

    Palisades Beach, the Incline

I have had this image in my mind since my first night as a new California resident. After driving for three days and nights I emerged from the McClure Tunnel on PCH to this sight. The Ferris Wheel is on the far left and Malibu stretches out in the vanishing point with the California Incline sloping from the right. One of the most memorable moments of the last 20+ years. This painting technically belongs in the TURMOIL gallery.
